Jessica Wiemerslage LMSW
For 18 years I have provided psychotherapy in a variety of settings. Having worked with people from all walks of life, I have learned so much about the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity for all to elevate self-acceptance and self-love. My background as a yoga teacher and practitioner has shaped my belief in the value of somatic work and integrative approaches to symptom management as well as healing from trauma. As a parent of a child with disabilities, I have experienced how harsh the world can be, but also the unforeseen blessings that come from the curve-balls life throws at us. I work with adults struggling with depression/anxiety as well as trauma, which impact self-esteem, relationships, parenting, and daily functioning. Additionally, I have extensive experience with grief/loss, addiction, the impact of chronic health conditions, life transitions, and an array of mental health disorders. Sessions are provided with non-judgment and a compassionate approach focusing on tools for stress management, health/wellness, and behavior change. I am passionate about ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and believe a lot of our suffering comes from not being able to accept how life is unfolding. No matter what your concern is, psychotherapy is an avenue of self-discovery, self-care, and healing. For those wanting deeper trauma work, I provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desentization and Reprocessing). I have specialized training in DBT (Dialectical Behavior therapy), ACT, EMDR, and Nutrition/Integrative medicine. I can provide in-person services in Traverse City and tele-health services for those who live in Michigan.
